Hey I have a 1994 si it has a stock D16z6 I don't really know much about building motors so I pretty much want some advice on how to make it faster. Right now the car is about to go in the body shop and get repainted after that I'll be getting some Meagan headers and a ws2 what do you guys recommend me doing to it and I plan on keeping the motor it only has 110k miles :thumb:

Well we need to know a few things before we can really make any good suggestions. How much power are you looking for? What sort of use will this car see? How much do you want to spend?

You can make 700+ whp on a d16z6, but that costs some serious cash, and it won't be a street car anymore at that point. It all depends on what your ultimate goal for the car is.

Well this is my daily driver I take it to school and work I wanna be able to keep up or beat a GSR that's my goal or get like 160hp out of the motor I would like to at some point boost it but don't wanna blow the motor not sure how much i want to spend since idk how much a d16 160hp motor runs for :?

well heres a freebie upgrade lol get rid of that A/c system and roll down your windows lol frees up some extra hp and lightens your car.....

you can boost it on stock rods (normally the first thing to go would be them but yea if you really want to build her up id try and find another D series motor to drop in whilst you build up the Z6....if you wanted....but yea given a good tune you could safely build upon that motor get around what you are wanting and have it last you.....

but yea a good thing you could always do is get rid of things you dont need i.e. ABS, A/c idk most people say getting rid of P/s sucks but i daily a Civic Cx never came with p/s i love it....

JRSC ... should give you enough power to keep up with GSRs and you can do it on a stock motor. I think I've seen 140ish whp out of them before and high 12s low 13s, IIRC.

well you cant just bolt-on pistons

an aftermarket IM will be a waste of time.. just get a ebay intake if it does not have to be CARB legal in your state....

This will decrease the value of his car if he decides to sell.
For a daily driver, these things are good to have.
If he's building a track car where weigh is crucial... then start ripping this stuff out :thumb:

I vote boost :woot:
By the tie you get done spending money on bolt ons and don't see much HP increase from them, you could have spent a little bit more all at once and pieced together a turbo kit.

Thank you teal that's the type of response I was looking for yea I'm not feeling the drop the ac part cause I wanna keep it as original as possible but at the same time giving it some HP so you think slapping a turbo on with everything as stock as it is now is a good idea ?

yup.

If your motors healthy.... a stock Z6 with a good tune will do just fine. As long as its kept under 200whp, it should be fairly reliable :thumb:

great site for research... http://www.turbod16.com/
