D16Z6 Turbo question

Could I turbo my stock d16z6 on stock internals? It's my only car and is a daily driver. The boost would only stay from about 5-7psi. I just would like it a little quicker now. Or should I install aftermarket pistons and rods in it? I'm only looking for around 150-180hp. I do know though that the last engine in the car was a d16z6 with only 80,000 miles on it and it started knocking, so now with my replacement d16z6 with 57,000 miles what should I do?

Boost it, the stock z6 rods can handel up to 200hp. Greddy and apexi make turbo kit for stock motors and with the boost pressure you want you should be ok. Just run some good oil, spark plugs, turbo timer, and a cat back exhaust. You will be set with that set up. Good luck :thumb:

80,000 and knocking must have been due to abuse or neglect. A well cared for motor will love boost. :thumb:

More importantly is what you're going to use for engine management.
