youd probaly have to get new rings which would entail a motor tear down ......and while your in there might as well replace the bearings and seals....but yea id say engine rebuild kit it so 400ish maybe and some time and effort and you should be good id offer him/her 150-200 since to be a hundred percent honest bottom end isnt that great so it could be considered junk unless you put the money into the rings (which is why it smokes and loses oil).....but yea if you buy it ill take the valve cover and trade you another one lol......

But in all honesty the its not a full swap you could probaly get a full swap for like 3-400 includeing everything with a Z6 depending on where you live....so i might say pass on this as at least in my junkyard i can get motor and trans minus core charges for 200 easy.....

id say maybe 500 for everything lol but then again im a bargin hunter you can get teh jdm d15b which is loads of fun for around 500 form most any jdm motor dealers....

http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc200 ... item=30021

ok maybe liek 600 but yea id say 350 for just the motor 425 seems a bit much but i mean if its guarenteed low miles maybe.....but you will need a ecu to work the thing.....

"single cam non vtec motor runs all there garrrentee to run very well no leaks no taps no knocks.. 150 thousand miles. every thing all there but tranny."

Cant remember if the D17 will bolt right in or not but for 400 i think it was comes with motor and trans....tho he says 2000year model civic so could be a D16y7 which is also sweet

but yea to answer your question a JDM D15b would be worth maybe 500 from a jdm dealer but id say 350 if someone used it unless you get a worry free warranty.....

275K on the clock and smokes (probably like a furnace) and burns oil. It's going to entail either a lot of money (if you don't rebuild yourself) in which case just get a ~40k JDM D15B VTEC from hmotorsonline ... or a lot of time (if you do it yourself). I'd probably offer $100 for the motor ... maybe $175 - $200 for everything since he says the tranny is good (but with that many miles I'd bench shift it to makes sure, and probably tear it down just for peace of mind).

Because seriously you can get a low miles motor with a start up guarantee for $500.

And that JDM motor and tranny... not worth the $800 unless there's an LSD in that tranny. Otherwise you can pick up one of the transmissions for $100 - $200 easily, and the engine with warranty from a reputable source is like $500. I say $500 - $600 would be a totally reasonable offer ... I'd probably go with $500 myself.

If you can talk him down a little bit and if you're going to put some high comp pistons in there, then yes I'd say it's worth it. If you're just going to rebuild it to stock for your girl's car then you might as well get a JDM import.
