You can't use an Y8 distributor on a Z6. You'll max out the adjustment and still be very far from the proper spec.
Z6 head can ONLY use Z6, Z1, ZC SOHC VTEC, and D15B SOHC VTEC distributors.
Y8 will work on non-VTEC OBD1 D series and D16A6.

yeah it will work, the only difference is the plug - round obd1 vs square obd2.
I thought they make a conversion plug but I can't find where...

ive done it before, some harness's ive done it to before were the same colors, and others i just used a haynes manual and compared the colors and did a cross that way, but the pin position is the same, its a very simple fix... ive done it several times no problem...

thanks guys i thought it was possible so the wire colors are the same as the obd2 plug that i have? i just have to connect the plug to the obd1 harness by cuting and matching the wires up? i have yet to get under the car and look.

some harneses are and some arent, double check with a haynes manual for refrence... the manual i had gave the variances in the colors of the wires...

The whole back side will switch over so you dont have to rewire it. Just unscrew it and switch them i did it to my alt. I have a obd2 p2t alt on a obd1 harness with my b16a
