d16y8 turbo idle problem...

hi there, i am new on this n dont know much about d series so i said better ask for help here :) ...

my brother got d16y8 vtec turbo it was auto but we swaped manual gear, the car was fine no problems at all till i orded a chiped p28 ecu from ebay the car worked fine vtec kicks @4000 and you can hear it kicks hard, turbo start spooling @3000 every thing was fine for like three days and then started to not hear the vtec and turbo started to spool @ 5000 and also started to idle like crazy it bounses bitween 1000-1500, i checked every thing n still couldnt find the problem, there is a CEL n its throwing IACV code so i replaced it but still same problem i even replaced the whole TB and checked all vacume lines no leak and the funny thing is when i put my oreginal ecu back the idle problem stopes, i dont know what to do else so any info will be great n thx in advance....

one more thing, on that three days the car revs up to 8000 but now it revs to 6500 its more like vtec is not working at all...

There's your problem right there.
With thousands of dollars invested under the hood, the ECU is the last place you want to cheap out. Use a p28 chipped with tuning software such as Hondata, Neptune, Crome, eCtune... Then take your car to a tuner who will tune it for you.

Dyno time isn't cheap but it's the right way to do things. :thumb:

i know a guy he is a pro on tuning ecu's i can buy from him a tuned chip but is it easy to replace the chip? i know u said i have to take the car to dyno but the problem is we dont have any dyno machine here in my country the near dyno is in dubai 6 hours driving n u will not just pass the police that easy so its kinda hard to get the car there..

replacing a chip requires very careful soldering. If a mistake is made it could damage the ecu. I would be sure to know how to solder electronics & circuit boards before attempting the chip.

if you know a professional tuner, then have your car street tuned if there are some open stretches of road in your area :thumb:

a Dyno is ideal, but a street tune is good too if the tuner has a lap top.
