JDM d15b IDLE ISSUE....

So I just recently got my 95' civic eg8....! For some reason it's got a low idle issue....! Things I've done so far to try to get the idle to break free from the roughness....!
1. Advanced Distributor a little (didn't raise to idle)
2. Replaced all spark plugs & wires (didn't raise idle)
3. Adjusted the flat head screw on Intake Manifold to allow more air flow (raised a little)
4. Replaced Timing Belt (didn't raise idle)
The car has a JDM d15b in it with 156k miles....! It's got me puzzled....!
Has anyone with this motor ever had this happen....? What can I do to fix this small issue....? Should I adjust the throttle cable to bring the idle up to around 900-1000rpm at idle because right now it's idleing sometimes around 500 rpm & other time around 700-800rpm....????.... And once it breaks free of 1000rpm it clears up runs nice and string hitting (vtec hard).... Could the injectors need replacing, bad tps, bad egr valve, bad iacv, or could I be running weak spark plugs & wires, maybe need tuned, or possibly wrong gas (running regular unleaded)....
(sometimes it's sounds like the intake will suck in some air, then stop when it idles around 500rpm)

does anyone have any advice on what I should do....?

My D15b idles between 500 and 700 but it is running smoothly the whole time. I just run piss gas (87) all the time.
you could try using a higher octane gas other than that all I would know to do is replace everything you already have aswell as the AICV:?
did you check for any codes?

My D16z6 does the same damn thing ive done all of what you mentioned. plus IACV and Fast idle valve. but i replaced those due to overly high idle 2000+.
on mines. after warm up it's at normal idle. ill start to drive and come to a stop and bam goes to about 500. then to like 650. then all of a sudden i hear my intake vaccumm raise and it's back to normal. i been trying to figure this damn thing out. at one point i messed with my throttle plate screww to bring my idle down back then when it was idling high before i replaced those parts.
for the most part it's been ok aside from the times it goes to 500 for like 20 seconds..
i would adjust that screw and see then. it's the plate u can push but hand where the throttle cables attaches to. right under there is a 6mm nut or 7mm. very delicate. so be careful not to strip the nut.
if not i dont know.
i would re adjust mines but i got a new larger Throttle body to install soon so it would be pointless..
i also run premium. 93+ octane gas. didnt change a thing..

one more thing. remember when adjusting the idle u have to unplug the IACV to do it corerctly.

Higher octane gas would make the car run worse if it's having combustion issues. The higher octane only there to prevent detonation (like from a high compression or boost situation) ... it makes the fuel burn slower. All gas contains the same amount of energy (i.e. 87 octane contains the same amount of energy as 92 octane) the higher octane is easier to get the power from because you don't have to worry about it exploding early and messing everything up.

Ive thought about running the higher octane (92) but dont think its going to do anything but burn faster.... idk

Actually it could be the coolant. When ole civics are low on coolant they idle oddly

Higher octane burns slower. Octane is like a climax control condom it keeps the gas from blowing too soon (which is detonation/pinging, which is bad).

Im almost positive its the coolant i had the same exact problem with my DX.
I found a horizontal crack in the reservoir tank. Went to pull a part got one for like 7 bucks or something. I don't have that problem anymore.

how was the car running with the crack in the resevoir?

the crack in the reservoir was just above the fill mark so my coolant was always low even if I filled it.
When in idle it would go back and forth from low to high rev.
exactly like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V13-JMhs ... re=related
high rev to low rev high to low high to low its fucked up
I replaced the tank filled with coolant never had the problem again.
its like ur Honda telling you that ur low on coolant.

You need to jumper the diagnostic plug when adjusting the throttle screw or the ignition timing. Otherwise the ECU will counter everything you're doing. Then when you're done, reset the ECU.
People ALWAYS overlook this.
NEVER tighten the throttle cable beyond spec.
Higher octane isn't going to do anything.
If it wasn't for AutoXCivic I'd have to say that the level of knowledge around here hasn't improved since I first joined. People are still treating their Hondas like Fords.
