- Wed May 12, 2010 7:21 pm #193627 Alright so I've got a D16Z6 with 120,000 kms that I just boosted to 8psi. It's entirely stock except for my DSM 450cc injectors. I'm running a basemap my tuner gave me and the car has been working fantastic. Runs kinda rich, but It still works well considering.

I was driving the other day and boosting on it a bit, because I like to take it out for a little drive now and then to keep everything lubricated and whatnot before I get it tuned, and I noticed on my way home my Vacuum was a lot less responsive. Instead of snapping up to 0 inHg, it kind of slowly raises. I notice it if I come after it aswell; the car still boosts fine to 8psi but it lags quite a bit before that. If it's idling or i'm at low RPM and I punch the gas right to the mat, the car will sputter for a few seconds before actually revving up.

I figured I might've jumped a tooth on my timing belt so I re-timed it today. The problem seems to have gotten a little better, but not entirely. Would a vacuum leak cause this kind of behavior? Another option I thought was that it could be a fuel delivery issue, but like I said I haven't had any problems before this.

- Wed May 12, 2010 8:52 pm #193683 yea check your static timing on teh distributor if your running a bit rich you may be getting well a bit more fuel than your current ignition can handle maybe just a thought.....

- Wed May 12, 2010 11:24 pm #193710 I didn't bother because I figured nothing had changed to make that a factor. I'll adjust it though and see what I come up with.

- Sat May 15, 2010 9:02 pm #194492 Alright so I adjusted my distributor timing with no change in the way the car idles. I'm beginning to think it might be a vacuum issue because the car idles around 1200 - 1500 rpm.

But would that cause it to sputter? And would it cause my vacuum/boost gauge to be less responsive?
