My hatch consumes a lot of antifreeze but there is no leak

Ok so my radiator seems to be consuming a lot of anti freez. There is no leak anywhere and I checked the hoses for any leaks. So now I have to fill my coolant like every 2-3 days, what's the deal?

is there always coolant in the rad? just non in the puke tank?
thats what mine is like. i fill my puke tank with coolant, and it is gone with in 3-4 days. but there is always coolant in the rad. my guess would be that the puke tank.

Yea I'm thinking that it's the puke tank or maybe a should buy a new radiator like a double row radiator ?

Maybe I should flush or drain my raditor and refill it?

Should I just get a radiator flush and refill?

If you're losing coolant then that won't do anything for you. You gotta find out how you're loosing it.

Does your coolant have an oily film on top, like this:

If so, there is a leak from the combustion chamber into the coolant passage which will force the coolant out of the overflow tank, adding air into the coolant system, eventually causing overheating. You may have caught it in its early stages if this is the problem.

Check hoses that may be old and time for replacement for cracks. Not just the radiator hoses, but there's coolant lines running from the intake to the throttle body to the iacv and back to the water pipe on the back of the block.

The water pipe also has rubber seals which can be replaced.

When was the last time the water pump was changed? A bad water pump can leak.

And a leaking heater core will use up coolant. If this happens, there is usually moisture around the passenger foot area under the dash. Check the hoses going to/from the heater core too.

Even check the thermostat housing. Also the radiator for any pin hole leaks.

I had the exact same problem. Having to fill my radiator every 2-3 days. I ended up letting my car run till the engine got to normal temperature. That was the only time I was able to find the leak.

My leak was from a bad rubber gasket around my water pump. If you check your engine, look at your block right around where your wp bolts up to it.. mine was leaking and the only time it would leak was when the engine was at normal operating temperature.

p.s. This is my first post. I've been a fan of this site for awhile. I have a 95dx that I've been working on. Great site and an awesome community!

this might sound weird but check the passenger side carpet.. you could have a leak in your heater core :thumb:
