Just wondering what the point of gapping new spark plugs was for or what the difference from just putting them in?[/list]D :? :?

Because they may not be gapped properly from the factory, always good to double check. You won't notice much difference on a stock motor compared to a heavily modified motor.

if there gapd too close you wont get the right amount of spark (its intensity) just the same as if its too big of a gap... like teal said its a good idea to do it, and you notice the most effect from it if your engine is modified... i know it makes a difference on a boosted setup...
