i doubt the y8 head gasket will even fit on the b7.... if ur looking to get some more hp u should do a mini-me swap.

does anybody know a thick head gasket that will fit on the b7? for a lil bump on compression. i know the mini-mr swap is the easy way to get hp, but i was thinking of doing it some other way...so yeah

if you get a thicker head gasket, you will lower compression.
If you want to bump up compression, a thinner HG is what you want.

teal, what and year d series HG do i get? cause i really want to raise my compression w/o doing a mini-me swap...and is it possible for me to put a a6 cam on my d15b7?

yes the a6 cam fits into the b7... but with anything else you change, to get the most out of it you should tune (most people dont, sometimes myself included), but, you may still notice a diff. with out tuning...

use a multi layered steel head gasket for best results. d16z6, d16a6, d16y7/8 etc.
changing to a thinner headgasket makes a very, small compression bump. head gaskets are already pretty thin.
mill the head or deck the block for more compression.
b7 pistons are the tallest d-series pistons, any others will reduce compression. (in a d15 block)
d15b7 + a6 cam + z6 intake manifold + ex trans + tuning/chipped ecu =

If you want to raise compression significantly, you'll need to change the pistons. That's basically an engine rebuild.

thanks d-mon for the details...should i get a chipped base map or a tune?

a tune is always better than a base map. a base map is useful as a starting point for tuning. You can drive to the tuner on a basemap, but don't go racing around on a basemap.

if you want to have the head milled or the block decked you will need a machine shop to do it for you
i would sugggest milling the head before i decked the block
my next motor i will have a head that will be milled .015
and that bumps the compression from 9.33 to 9.66 so not much
say you mill the head .015 and deck the block .015 that will put you somewhere around 10 wich is pretty good for a dd

koool...alright i have a d15b7 how much should i mill the head? and by decking the head what do you guys mean by that?...when it comes to the internals im such a noob at it...lolz so yea how much should i mill my d15b7 head....i just want a fun DD

milling or decking means taking a certain amount of meterial off the head or the block so when i say mill the head .020 it means that 2o thousands of an inch will be removed from your head
the closer the pistins are to the vlaves/head the higher your cr is
so you want a thinner headgasket and less material on your head
i would mill the head .020 and i wouldnt touch the block
honestly if you wanrt a high cr fun to drive dd
just get a z6 head and swap it
no head work will get you a 10.22 cr and its a pretty easy swap and wont cost much
