Civic EG

This may sound weird but what could make my civic sound like a lawnmower?

Its a d15b7 with 250k, i/h/e
My motor will make a pop noise every few seconds, it sounds like a leak in the exhuast. Lost most of the low end power and while I'm driving in 5th gear around 1500 rpms it will shake really bad.

Any ideas?

when was the last time it had a tune up?

is the check engine light ever on?

I agree with ignition, usually the first thing that causes things like this.
Also poor timing and a bad o2 sensor are common issues as well.

Pop noise is usually excess fuel igniting in the exhaust. You may be running rich due to a stuck injector. But any recommendation based on your vague description of the problem is a long shot.

im currently having this problem...mine isnt that bad but i also have never had an 02 sensor, im picking one up tomorrow and gonna install...sooo if this fixes my problem then i think you should give one.
