I have my wonderful little 95 Hatch with its stock D15B7 pushing her along. I love the hatch, i think its one of the best car bodies ever, simple yet elegant lol
Note, I don't know if it matters, but it is an automatic and shall remain lol
Anyway, it has about 160k miles on it, I'm the 3rd or 4th owner, its burning oil and every once in a while it shudders and stalls.
I would like to put an engine from a 2002 or so civic in there (not the SI)....
What is needed? Can I use the same p/s pump, etc? What issues will there be with the AC?

^ that motor won't even bolt in without some serious modification, if it's even possible..
easiest will be another OBD1 D motor

I based it on pictures and how they look similar. What about from a 96-00 civic?

Just pick up a low mileage JDM engine since most USDM engines that you will find locally have high miles and will probably have been raped to s***.
I highly recommend getting a 92-95 D15B VTEC, P08 ecu and manual tranny. Your car will be SO much quicker once you toss that auto transmission. Get yourself a nice clutch, I/H/E and be done w/ it. You'll have a "peppy" ride.

Hey, maybe you'll get lucky and pick up the super rare LSD tranny when you order it?

so your thinking of doing a D17a1/2 swap then? not sure about the D.side mount on it but i mean i do beleive it should work only problem i see is the whole intake manifold deal as its d17 only id maybe go for a D17 if your set on that (bottom end and a D16z6 head ontop but yea just not sure
to be honest if its an auto why not go ahead and put in another D15 but get a JDM D15b swap i think youd be a bit happier in the long run as the D15.and D16 will not have much problems going into your car and should be a decently smooth drop in and go....

it really depends on how big of a headache you want
or how much money you wanna drop on it
you can spend $4,000 - $7,000
and have a dope ass K20a or H22 installed and what not
if your trying to keep it under $2k D15b is it

Yeah you can always install one. But if you happen to get one that has the stock lsd, you would be one lucky sob.
They're a gem.
