Hey all, I have my eye on a D16 on ebay. I'm waiting to hear which D16 (hopefully a Z6). This is all that was written;

Honda civic 1.6 v-tec sohc engine for sale, comes complete with gearbox, wiring lume, ecu, altenater, ect has done 64000 miles but has been stood on the garage floor for over a year now, so sold as a project, any other questions please ask.

Ive asked if it runs/when it was last run... If it ran before it was left in the garage, is there gonna be issues after its been sat a year in a garage??

heres the link - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-CIVIC-1-6-V-TEC-ENGINE-SOHC-64000-MILES-/160447994190?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item255b72194e

valve covers can be changed.

i wouldnt worry about it sitting in a basement. i got a free small block chevy that had been sitting outside under a peice of plywood for 10 years and it fired right up

To be honest i don't trust anything like this on ebay, If it was a small part or something yes. but not something important like a motor.

I know what you mean mate, Im quite keen to get my hands on a decent engine and work on it before I put it in. So long as it dosent cost me too much... only problem is theres no way for me to hear/see it running I guess...

as stated in your other thread, have him take a pic of the engine code.
clearly, not a y8

Yeha, not a y8. y8's had the oil dipstick on the timing belt side of the block not the center.

And being that it has been "tunerized" with some flashy red paint on the block, I would assume its a z6.. my 2 cents.

that intake manifold kinda looks like the y8

it could be a mini me
or a z6 block with the y8 head
or all z6 wit y8 mani..lol

but ya ebay and craigslist are ehhhh
even tho i bought almost everything from the 2 sites..lol

I won it :woot:

£102 or $153 US dollars for a D16Z6 with gearbox, wiring, ecu and all ancillaries. Ive either got a bargain here or Ive made a big mistake...

If its broke, ill just rebuild it. Its still gotta be worth it right? plus, I want to learn to build an engine anyway :D

that looks like the z6 intake manifold to me. definitely not a y8 IM.
Does it come with the injectors and fuel rail?
be sure the engine spins freely by hand before you give him the $$$

Are you planning on rebuilding it or trying it as-is?

I was planning on buying a rebuild kit of some sort, the most extensive one I can buy. Rebuild it slowly and properly then I'd love to give it some baby boost till I can afford uprated parts... or just save up and make do with my B7 for now :?

Im assuming any D series rail will fit it if it dosent? and how easily should it turn over by hand??

with out the tranny engaged, remove the spark plugs and you should be able to spin it easily by turning the crank pulley.

(You'll be fighting the compression if you leave the plugs in)
