what do you mean yes when vtec hits it will but the d15b vtec should sound the same as the z6 or y8.

yeah I thought that was the case... I know D's generally sound different right through the rev range than B's. someone said this was the case with D15 and D16's...

the exhaust you put on it will make more difference.

i'm guessing that if there is a difference between the sound that the engine generates it is because of the amount time travel that the 1600 can pull to reach the torque, the torque of both engine may be relatively similar, but still the force of combustion aren't the same. that is maybe why, when the vtec kicks in, there is a slight difference it its sound....plus d-mon is right, the exhaust would really give a whole lot difference in the sound...

i guess being from its homeland... they give out the best of what they can do... come to think of it most factory issued engines that garners the high HP and torque are from the jdm land.

when i swapped from a d15b to a z6 my car sounded waaay different id guess it had something to do with the higher compression in the jdm motor? that or my d15b was super toast and just sounded peculiar
