Picked up a d16 block and head for 75 bucks... missing some pieces... but really just needed the block. Anyways, first thing that worried me was the valve cover didnt say VTEC on it, and the second was that the head was stamped p08-1 with a ring stamp of (9/4)... is this a '94 d15b jdm head? Im at a loss.

Thanks for any help.

So I think your guess as good

PS. ignore D series valve covers because some say vtec and some dont. Best practice is to look at the back left corner of the head for a vtec solenoid :thumb:

So the question is, do I keep it? If so, what ecu would I need. I would assume p08, anyone know if p28 is useable?

p28 ecu will work for a jdmd15b head
has very close base maps almost identical

A good way to see if it's VTEC is to look for a VTEC solenoid. It would bolt to the left rear of the head (when your facing it) and look like a small cylinder that points upwards.

If it is an OBD1 VTEC ECU, a P28 should do you just fine.

Was missing the vtec solenoid, but I think I see where it would bolt up... anyway to know if it is that 3 stage vtec or not? Pretty sure its not, since its obd I
