d15b7 running rich after head gasket change

So I've recently changed my head gasket. Jus tryin to keep this thing running well, and long enuff 'till I can do my swap. ( B18, B20 ) I like torque :F

Anyhoo. After completing the head gasket change, I've noticed that my car is running rather rich. I'm going to advance my timing a bit tommorow 'n see if that clears up the issue. I would like to have the power band a lil lower, which I know retarding the timing can achieve that, but I need the engine to last. Def don't need the thing running lean.

Jus curious if anyone 'round here has had a similar issue 'n what steps they took to fix said issue. I'm guessing either retarding or advancing the dizzy should help to fix my problem. I can smell the unburnt fuel in my exhaust. Inside the car, and out. I just changed the spark plugs before the head gasket went, it could be that the plugs have been damaged in that time. They look black. I know I have bad rings, not worried about that too much. Jus hafta deal with goin thru oil. No biggie.

If y'all got some insight on this, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I would check the timing WITH A TIMING GUN first :thumb:

Yeah. I'm doing that soon. For now I've just retarded the dizzy a bit to make it run a lil lean. I think I may have fixed the issue in doing that. Not too much, just a few degrees.
