D15, D16, D17 and Mini-Me swaps
By AutoXCivic
#209628 Yes it will work. However the holes for the bolts do not line up, you have to cut one of the open a bit to get the thing to fit. It'd be easier just to fine one off of a VTEC engine. But and obd1 d-series dizzy is an obd1 d-series dizzy as far as internals go.

It's been done on a z6 head, but ... like I said ... there's some cutting involved. Which means you may not be able to get the ignition timing quite right.

At most you can get two bolts on with very little room for adjustment, and when your timing slips you'll be sorry.

In other words, no, it doesn't work.

#209795 whats wrong with the existing distributor? you can use the internals in the vtec dizzy. like the ignitor and coil rotor cap etc..

I just said it had been done, I didn't say it was a good idea.

JDM one should work ... it's essentially a factory d15b7/z6 mini-me. And probably uses the TD-42 dizzy.

#223956 I have a D15b7 distributor that works
I believe my distributor on my JDM D15b just failed
You guys said its not a good idea to just bolt on the D15b7 distributor because it doesn't fit properly
So cant I just swap the internals from the D15b7 distributor to the jdmD15b distributor?

Im about to try it but id like to know before I mess my sh1t up

#223963 Yes the if you look at the inside and the internals look the same, you can swap them. I've never seen the inside of a JDM D15b dizzy but I imagine it is the same as any other OBD1 D series. I swapped the internals from a D15b7 dizzy into the case of a D16z6 dizzy and it worked perfect. Just be sure to put the key back on the right way so your dizzy isn't 180° backward.

#223966 Im glad to hear it will work.
Yeah im tryin to disassemble my D15b7 distributor
The key has been spun around from its original position just by fiddling with it and taking screws out
what direction does it need to be at so I can rotate it back?

I have the cap off and two screws from the bottom
there is a black plastic cover that is covering the inside
That cover is blocking the screws that I need to take out

Never taken one apart so im not sure what to do at the moment...
