Hey guys so far in the past month this website has helped me out tons with D series info and I am going to come to you for more help. A buddy just got a 97 DX Hatch and we are thinking of putting the y8 head on it but were wondering what kind of compression and power would be made with this. I'll keep searching for the time being but if anyone knows let me know. Thanks.

I don't think compression would change at all as both heads have the smaller square-ish shaped combustion chambers. You'd pretty much be converting it to the same specs as a D16y8.

Well from what I've researched thus far the y7 pistons have taller pistons or whatever you call it that give it a little bump in compression. Also something about the y8 head gasket being thinner? What's up with that? Again still searching so I'll post what I find and see what ya'll think.

I love that page! Thanks a ton! According to that calculator I'll be looking at 9.9:1 Compression with a y8 head on a y7 bottom and if I can locate this mythological 2 layer y8 head gasket it'll be around 10.25:1!!!

Well nobody has a part number for it or I can't find any posts that actually verify such a head gasket is even a real thing. I was actually laughed off another site for asking.

that is correct, AJ.
i don't recommend doing this.
just mill the head if you want a noticeable compression bump.
