D15, D16, D17 and Mini-Me swaps
By Rufuseg8
#225040 My sedan has had really poor acceleration since Ive driven it. ( I bought the car and it had a bad engine so I replaced with a JDM one). -someone else did the swap.

The car is really sluggish and I thought it may be normal. But I am starting to think otherwise. Going up hill I can push the pedal almost to point of flooring the pedal and Im actually decelerating! Maybe by 1 or 2 mph but still? Also on the hwy Its physically impossible in the condition my car is in to go over 85. Ive tried. Im not trying to 100 mph all the time. It just concerns me that I cant! Going downhill, on the hwy, almost flooring, I get to 85 tops.

I did some cheap/ simple fixes such as fuel filter and air filter. Nothing more. My car is stock with the exception of a SRI and some crappy muffler ( Not Exhaust system) the previous owner put on.

Ive did a little research and was thinking maybe its the cat? I am new when it comes to cars, this one was actually my first. Im trying to learn and any advice is welcome. If I cant do it I know someone who can. -Thanks

Im new to the honda game as well but have you looked into your injectors to see if they arent giving you enough fuel. Also check if you have alot of deposits on the valves or something lol just a suggestion

also

Check the ecu you are running on and have you done a tune up? Maybe timing is off or you jumped timing by a tooth or so.

a clogged cat will choke your car's acceleration as you described.

Take the cat off and hold it up to the sun. Looking through it from one end to the other, you should see a bunch of screens inside and still be able to see a hint of light through all the holes in the screens.

#225127 I was just gonna ask how to check my cat. Thanks

Had a check engine but it was my speed sensor. Yanked and cleaned it and the problem was solved. Ill look into all those things tomorrow. Thanks for all the suggestions. More are welcome :thumb:.

Ill get back to you guys after I check the above.

#228987 Well after a couple weeks and lots of time under the car w/ those rusty bolts I finally got the cat off. It looked decent a little clogged but considering its a 15yr old im not surprised. Didn't seem like enough to cause my poor acceleration but I bought a magnaflow cat anyway. Only because I got it for $45 shipped from auto anything w/ a coupon. Installed it, along with my stock muffler (finally got the useless/ loud one off) although im getting better MPGS :thumb: ...

Im still having the accleration problem. Mainly going uphill. Any other suggestions? No check engine lights and Im not entirely sure what I would be looking for on the injectors. Needless to say I am a noob. lol

Any help is appreciated.
