Hey everyone I was wondering if anyone has experience with lightweight flywheels on the D series and if they recommend a certain weight. I had an 8 pound on my LS and I loved it but been told for more practical use I should invest in an 11 or 12 pound. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

For daily driving I would do 12 lb. I have 8 lb. now and stop/go traffic sucks.
Also there's noticeable deceleration when going up slight inclines and slight hills. I have to downshift into 4th more often than with a regular flywheel.

im planning on getting the XTD stage 3 clutch/pressure plate/7lb flywheel setup when I get an EX tranny.
i heard you loose momentum going up hill and as far as pulling out its either your stopped or your going

Ya I loved the 8 pound in my LS but I just want to check with my fellow D series guys to see what the general population is using lol

you start to loose the momuntum, the flywheel is so light it slows down faster, now on n/a motors there good but for boost its better to have a semi heavy one so when u do let off the gas it keeps its momuntum so you dont have boost lag, this is one thing i remember learing at school lol

Ya I herd something about that as well on another forum but you know how it is sometimes when people start arguing on a thread but then 2 weeks later Import Tuner had a little mini article on lightweight flywheel. Well I'd like to boost it later on down the road. Nothing crazy like 6 pounds or something simple to enjoy.

i really dont drive around hills much. i usually go up on them in first gear slowly anyways.. lol

Yeah 12 - 13 lb. Any lighter than that and driving becomes a chore.
I had a 12ish lb that I got in a package deal with my Exedy clutch. It chattered quite a bit. Became an annoyance but driving-wise it was good. If I had to do it again I'd get a stock VX flywheel instead.
On my GSR I opted to get a Type R flywheel instead of aftermarket. It's pure bliss.

Alright so I have been modding and racing for about 8 years now and have never thought to ask but wtf is clutch chatter lol. Besides a clutch slipping and grabbing super hard I'm not sure if I've ever experienced it or not. Just want to check in case it ever does happen and what exactly causes it.

Lol.. clutch chatter is what it is. lol. a chatter. to be more detailed. when you drive u give the car gas and release the clutch pedal ever so slightly to engage. now depending on what clutch u have usually stage 3 and up discs with 6 or 4 pucks on them theyclutch will feel like it's tapping right before fully engagin. only happpens when your in 1st gear and taking off.. so it's the in btwn timing from neutral to fully engaged.. hope that explains it..
chat chat chat chatter grab and goooo.. =]
