D15, D16, D17 and Mini-Me swaps

#228810 Hoping I can get pointed in the right direction and fix this issue.

Feels like I'm hitting fuel cut @ 5500 in 1st and 2nd. Havent tried 3rd gear, but I assume it will do the same thing.

Any ideas?

Just bought this car, and as far as I can see it is completely stock. I have a slight oil leak around the VTEC solenoid, and VTEC doesn't seem to engage from what I can feel from 4800 to the 5500 cut.

it feels like fuel cut. like I've hit rev limiter.

to be honest I dont know how many miles are on the fuel filter, could be original. but the cut out is so sudden I am leaning towards something electronic. especially given that it is always at 5500.

#228933 Had that issue awhile ago. Speed sensor... didnt throw a light but was faulty.. make sure you have tranny fluid in yourr tranny too.i picked up a new VSS from ebay for about 28 bucks. ..

OP, your saying it's got the stock D16z6 motor in it and for sure NOT a swap?


for Vtak to pop you need...
-correct ECU/basemap. your stock should be P28
-correct oil level/pressure
-working speed sensor / speedometer
-working solenoid

Yes it will mines did. i had the exact same issue. no CEL..... but marked the wrong speed btwn 5-10 mph under.. . swapped it out and problem was gone....

Yeah this thing is completely stock. It was adult driven and well taken care of.

Not sure where to go with this. I think I'll just throw a new VTEC solenoid and gaskets in there and see what happens.

Is there a way to bench test the solenoid? Apply power and it should move, yes?
