D15, D16, D17 and Mini-Me swaps

#230168 Hi guys.

I have a D15B2, I can't seem to find much info on it here.
It's a european car, just a general question, how does it handle
a turbo, is it a good base to start with, I'm thinking about a B16A2
swap but I was thinking that it might be fun to make a home made
turbo kit for it and work on it myself and gain some experience.
Not talking about much boost pressure, maybe 6-10psi.

I read on another forum that the D15B2 is crap and I shouldn't waste
my money on it so I didn't want to ask about it there :)
They are probably right, just wanted to check...

I would have to change it to mpfi, should I do a mini-me then turbo it ?
Noob question... ;)

Thanks.

#230169 whatever you do with d15b2 the first thing you have to do is mpfi swap. if you wanna do minime you should do conversion obd0 to obd1, cause d15b2 is obd0. that is some basic stuff

D15b2's are quite slow. Recently help my friend convert to OBD1 and do a D16z6 swap. Wasn't hard if your familar with Wiring.

There are DIY articles for DPFI to MPFI and OBD0-OBD1 online. If you want you can buy a Jumper Harness that will do all the wiring for short of running 4-5 labeled wires to the ECU. If your not familar with wiring or cant have the car be down for long this is the way to go.

I enjoyed my B16 when I had it. However even since I swapped to my b20 and b16 tranny I could never go back. Much Faster, Cheaper parts, Cheaper Fuel, What can you not want?

99Spec JDM B20b, Same as USDM B20z. Not sure what UKDM or EDM would be though. Its Pulled form any 99-01 CR-V

#230426 99Spec JDM B20b, or USDM B20z is the B20 you want.
They have higher compression for better torque but not so high as to need higher than 87 octane fuel.
You get the best of both worlds.
