Fully Built d16, need some questions answered

Ok so my buddy just did an engine swap from a turbo d16 to a gsr and told me I could take his old motor. Now the only problem is that it's in pieces, head, transmission, block, etc. I know I'll have to take it to a machinist to get it put together since I don't trust myself and can probably get them to warranty the work. Now I was just wondering what price ranges I should be expecting before I call around, just so I know I wont get ripped off, seeing as how it's just putting the pieces back together correctly. Another question I had was I was planning on running it non turbo until i can piece together a kit in a few months, so I was wondering if there are any disadvantages or negatives to running an engine built for high boost normally?
Here's the parts list he gave me:
Crower head springs
3 layer cosmetic head gasket
Arias oversized pistons
eagle rods
Rods are studded arp
Block is guarded and bored
he had it set up for high boost with a ridiculously big frankenstein turbo he customed
so thoughts? advice?

save your self ALOT of money and put it together yourself
its very simple if you can turn a wrench you can rebuild an engine its all about time and paying attention
if you are really that against doing it yourself then id say they are going to charge you an hourly rate not sure about your area but around me the average hourly rate for a machainst is around 70 to 80 an hour
and if i were re asembling everything you have mentioned it might take me a few hours so say 4 hours just a rough estimate (kinda on the high side)
so that would be 320 not including and other work they would have to do
i would suggest buying a manual and doing alot of research and doint it yourself

the only thing is that i'm a student right now, it's the middle of canadian winter, and i don't have any tools, so that leaves my only option to get it put together, i would love to do it all myself but sadly my money is mostly going to school so i don't have a garage or tools to work on it

$500 - $800 Bottom end balancing and Assembly
$50 Valve regrind
$50 Head pressure test
$150 - $200 Head assembly
This also includes cleaning and what not, and the prices are in New Brunswick, Canada.
Boost is one of those mods that requires total and utter commitment. You either do it all, or you don't do it. My advice: Give your girlfriend the 'My car is more important' talk and pickup more hours at work

got a machinist to put it together for 300, then my mechanic to do the swap for 600, he's got to rip the tranny off my other motor, put in the new clutch and flywheel etc..i think all in all it's not a bad deal

i woulda did everything for 200... 600 bucks to put a motor thats nuts!!! in i normally charge a case of beer to put a motor in....

it's winter time in canada, i don't have a garage, he's gotta take off my tranny that's on my car, put it on the new motor, put in new clutch flywheel pressure plate etc, there's a bunch of parts that need to be swapped over and frankensteined from my current engine to put on that new block
