#240461 Hello all,

It's crunch time for me. I'm coming up to my car insurance renewel on my civic. Don't know how i managed it, but i just got by paying for it monthly last year, prices were CRAZZZZY, (£4500).

As im only 18 (just turned February 3rd) and go college with part time work, money IS an issue when buying parts, so cant just buy a faster car etc.

Never posted a topic on Marlin (my civics name) because its a VERY slow build. I haven't done any serious tuning yet so thought i would wait until i start to do something that others can be interested in seeing.

Now this is where all you tuning experts come in...

Just recently i've seen videos and posts about a d13z6... due to insurance prices i want to stay as low as a 1.3 but want vtec as quickly as possible :hehe: .

Can everyone help me out and list everything im going to need to do a d13z6? Got a rough idea, but its best if the people that have more experince can give me a complete shopping list for it :D.

Thanks guys :thumb:

#240465 We don't have the D13 here in the US, not too familiar with it. Is it carb'd or fuel injection?

If it's fuel injected already, I think putting a d16z6 head on would be like your standard mini-me swap with the exception of using the P28 ecu. Since there was never a vtec 1.3L from honda, there is probably no ideal factory ecu to run that setup. That means you'll need to chip an ecu and get it custom tuned because a factory ecu will not have the correct fuel curves.

#240466 This sounds like the motor you have:
D13B2

* Found in:
o 1992-1995 Honda Civic DX (European Market)
+ Displacement : 1,343 cc (82.0 cu in)
+ Bore and Stroke : 75.0 × 76.0 mm (2.95 × 2.99 in)
+ Compression : 9:1
+ Power : 74.9 hp (55.9 kW, 76.0 ps) @ 6300 rpm
+ Torque : 75.2 ft·lbf (10.4 kg/m, 102 Nm) @ 3100 rpm
+ Valvetrain : SOHC (4 valves per cylinder)
+ Cam Gear : 37 tooth
+ Piston Code : PM1G
+ Head Code : PM3
+ Fuel Control : Single Carburetor

So I think that you should convert to MPFI at the same time in order to run a chipped OBD1 ecu for your custom tune. I don't know anything about carb'd 92-95 motors.

#240471 It is that exact motor. Has the carburettor. Say i was to convert it to MPFI, (however difficult that is), will everythin else be an easy bolt on job, or would much modyfyin need doing?

I've looked at the difference in the d13b2 head gasket and the d16z6 head gasket, and they look very similar just with slights differnces

This could be a tough project! lol

#240714 im not 100 % on this but impretty sure you could do the mpfi swap and then just put a vtec head on that block and wire in vtec
id say get a p28 and chip that
heres a brief shopping list todo the mpfi swap tho

d15b7 im/fuel rail/injectors
d15b7 intake arm
d15b7 tb
dx dizzy
p06 ecu
ecu plugs
injector plugs
injector resistor box
injector o rings/seals

just some things to think about

I don't think we would need the resistor box, using OEM OBD1 injectors, correct?

And then replace the D15b7 / dx parts on the list with D16z6 parts and you'll have yourself a fuel injected D13 vtec. Then get that P06 ecu chipped with some software (crome, neptune are free since this is a budget build) and get it tuned :thumb:

#240726 easiest thing to do is to tak that engine out:)
anyway you need to do lot of things in start. first you need to install complete OBD1 harness, next you'll need new gas tank complete, and fuel lines. that's for start :D after that you can put d16z6 head :D

#240742 Wow, i shoot for the fence on this one lol. Im guessin, eventhough the eg's are one of the better cars to work on, takin out the fuel tank and fuel lines could be a tricky bit for doing at home? Has anyone done this?

I've got the chance to buy a d16z6 block, head, wiring loom, inlet mani, would that be something get imediately? Then start takin the bits from that?
