So far I have a z6 head for my b7 block.

Question is will ZC pistons work without modification?

not with a b7 block and the z6 head theres not enough clearance for your valves

B7 pistons are pretty much the only thing that works properly in a b7 block. The different compression heights of the pistons (wrist pin positions) make it hard to swap parts between d15 and d16 blocks because the pistons are made for different length rods and different deck heights.


They will fit but it will not create and optimal combustion area since the piston will be sitting .069" below deck. This piston combo will net you a 10.2:1 CR with a z6 head. A better option is to keep the b7 pistons and mill the head to get the desired CR this gives you a better combustion area, and quench pad ... and all that good stuff. My b7/z6 minime made 125 WHP untuned.

What sort of CR are you looking for.

b7 pistons + z6 head and headgasket + mill head .025" = 10.9 CR

Would it be worth my while to get a block guard? or are they just a waste of money? I found a golden eagle for 50..

I wouldn't bother with a block guard. there are pros and cons.... unless you are pushing a lot of power I would not use then because they can hold some heat near the combustion chambers i have been told and read. (you want that area of your engine to stay cool as possible)
