ok so i just swapped out my d16z6 for a jdm d15b vtec..i am currently running a skunk2 manifold with I/H/E.. so this morning i go to start the car up to warm it up and it turns on and dies..i start it up again and give it some gas and its idling at 2k cold..i go inside my house thinking it was gunna stay on and i come outside and its off.. i have a check engine like because i didnt put my old IAT sensor because the opening on the skunk2 manifold was too small for it.. so i was wondering what could cause that to happen? could it be the IAT sensor??

yeah, put the IAT sensor back on and it will help your angine run right. drill the hole out bigger so it will fit.
Honda put it there for a reason, plus with the empty hole there you have a vacuum leak. Your ecu is probably like "wtf is going on!?" and that's why your engine is stalling.

well i have that hole plugged up with a bolt...but i found out that my "backup" fuse on the fuse box under the hood was blown..so i rreplaced it and it starts up but dies within 3 seconds.. can it be my Cap or rotor?? maybe the coil?> cause it was running fine yesterday up until this morning

P28 ecu?
If its racing like that, it sounds like the IAT
see what happens when you plug the IAT in without it being attached to the IM

i'm having a similar problem with mine. starts up and dies right out. start it up again and it idles rough, but give it a little gas and it runs a little better. then after that it's fine. i know i have a bad iacv though cause i jumped the ecu and it was like. "hey...my iacv is bad, you should change it when i have a minute or two." <<<< but picture that in french since my car was made in canada.
sorry for the sort of thread steal, but thought since your problem sounds like mine, it would help you out a little.

i would deffinetly try just pluggin in the iat and letting it hang, a false reading is better than no reading at all. with no MAF on the older models they do rely on the iat

ok so i changed the distributor..i plugged the IAT in and let it hang..i thought it was the dizzy cause once i changed my old one it fired right up and didnt die on me.. also when it dies it just shuts off fast..like i turned the key to off..it doesnt stall or bog.. idk what it could be

ok so i came up with some theories on what it might be..
1) a short somewhere
2) p28 might make it run rich thus saturating the spark plugs?
Do you guys think i should remove the engine harness and check it for any broken tabs or damaged wires and RE-wire the entire motor?

i think you should drill your mani and put the iat back on, if it was a short some where it wouldnt fire up every time and quit on you it just wouldnt work...

I had the same problem. it wont fit. dont drill the hole on the skunk2 manifold. what i did was i got a new IAT sensor. the tip is what sends the signal. the bigger end of it up to the little o ring is what wont fit. Do this it will take about 20 mins... grab a fresh new sharp ass razor and get to the shaving. shave material down enough from the larger part of the sensor tip until it fits into the hole. thats what i did and have not had a probelm ever... Gotta get creative bro. if u notice on the manifold the port for the IAT is threaded to take the screw in IAT sensor.. Just shave the thicker bottom end and ur good.

it's better not to drill a 250$ part... sensor is only 30 bucks if he messes it up...
