well at least here in the states the eg's didnt come with the d15b2 so im guessing you got a base model around 1991 or something such as that?? as the d15b2 came with a dual point injection and obd0 setup(im sure all this really isnt making much sense ) but hopefully this will if you love your car and are willing to work on it and learn i think you will enjoy it more then just waiting and getting another car because to truely appreciate a honda you must in my mind work on it and hone your skills......
that being said the d15b2 is just the older brother of the d15b7 without doing the vtec head swap(mini me) your best bet would be to upgrade to obd1 (change the wiring and stuff) or stick with obd-0 and grab a tube multiport fuel injection intake and do a swap much like this

now thats on an earlier model civic but same information
Also if you are lucky enough to find a d16a6 cam for relatively cheap that is a more aggressive cam then that of the d16b2 you would need a different timing belt and cam gear to get it timed right but its a relatively simple swap and would be a bit of fun
but intake swap wise would give you the best bang for your buck in my eyes if what you have is what im thinking of....
if your mechanically unable to do things really the only way i feel that might help is to slowly go at it getting comfortable and then in the same instance uncomfortable because just like welding you can be shown all you want but until you try try and try again you wont get good at it....
