i just finished putting new rings in my minime A6/Z6. after setting the rings (in 3rd gear upto 50 down to 30) did that 10-12 times as haynes manual states, how much oil use is normal? haynes states "some" oil use during the first break in is normal. just curious if anyone has some input on how much oil it should use. i drove it 3 to 3 1/2 miles doing the break in and used 2 qts of oil already, is this "normal"? :?

I would say no, did you make sure you put the rings on the piston facing upwards in the right direction did you hone your cylinder walls? Jw.

yes all rings were installed correctly. yes used a ball hone. haynes had a note stating it will use oil during the break in period. i didnt notice any smoke or any leaks. it was also 1030 and didnt have great light. i am going to check it out in the morning look for any leaks and get someone to folllow me to look for smoking.

you have to tighten it down after adjusting the tensioner.
IIRC 14mm.
you can get another one at the junkyard.
