so i just replaced my cap and rotor. turned car on. and it was still sputtering like it had a misfire. so i went through and unplugged a spark plug wire one by one seeing if i could narrow the misfire down. didnt find it.

before when i was having a problem, someone mentioned unplugging each injector one by one. so i did that. and now im throwing a code for my injectors?

what the hell went wrong? anybody have a clue?

i even tried taking my fuel rail and injectors out to see if there was anything wrong with them. they look fine.

if i have to replace my injectors, what size do i need? im running bone stock if that helps.

update: so i bought injectors, they are used, but came with a warranty. BUT... didn't think about it until today.... they're off of a d15b7. the b7's have more power than a b8, which i have. is this going to cause a problem?

Re: throwing code for injectors? take a look inside please.

back up to the very beginning, you're getting too far from the original problem...

You replaced the cap & rotor and now it is mis firing. I would triple check to be sure the plug order is correct on the cap. unplugging each wire one by one isn't going to do anything if your firing order is incorrect. No need to mess with the injectors, you got a CEL for the injectors because your ecu was like "hey something's wrong, I'm missing an injector!"
I'd pull the ecu fuse to clear the codes, check the firing order of plugs in the cap.

the misfire didn't start until yesterday when i was driving. i did my plugs and wires like a month ago. i had the fuse out of for the ecu and tried starting it with nothing still.

things i've done so far:

igniter module: failed test.
ignition coil: has noticable current escape burns on the plastic.
injectors: replaced because i was throwing a code for injectors
(i checked my PGM FI relay for the clicking. it clicks all 3 times, so the circuitry is full. and fuel pump is operational.)
tried jumping the ECU and it's a constant NO FLASHING CEL. i checked the grounds on the thermostat housing and they are clean. i even sanded the metal for good measure.)

i'm running out of ideas. next move is to get a node light and see if i have current to my injectors?

any help is much appreciated. i really need a car so...

so you have replaced both of those right?

yes, replaced igniter module and ignition coil. i have spark, but no fuel, and my FI relay is supposedly good. i took the board out of the relay and looked it over. there were no signs of damage. i held onto the relay while i turned the car to on, and cranked it over. and felt all 3 clicks it makes to complete the circuit.

someone mentioned my crank sensor. but that would mean i have to replace the dizzy assembly correct? ....or swap out all the guts.

i checked my grounds for my ecu, they're good and cleaned.

im at a complete stump here..

not that anyone looks at my posts besides "teal", but last night i thought i would pull my engine wiring harness out and look it over for shits and giggles. i traced my ECU grounds to make sure nothing was wrong with them. nothing was wrong, so i put the harness back in and threw my old injectors back on just to see if i could get anything... kind of a last ditch effort to have a running car again.

i tried it, and this time i couldn't get my fuel pump to prime. i was just :x to the max!

i sat there for a while twiddling my thumbs trying to figure out what was going on.. i almost called it a night, and decided to check over my connections, make sure everything was connected right. i forgot to hook up the ECU grounds. i tried my car one more time.....fuel pump primed, so i turned it off. turned it on, primed again......i cranked it over and over and it finally fired up! i shat myself! and started laughing like no other... i could have had a running car the other day if i would have reinstalled my old injectors. i was happy and pissed off all at the same time lol..

i'm assuming my newer injectors are not compatible. anyway... problem solved... back to basics now... going to be visiting a couple junk yards by my work soon to see if they have anything worth pulling. i haven't posted on my build lately... haven't done anything... worth posting. i'll be on it soon though..

to those who have looked in here, or posted, thank you for the suggestions.
