i know this seems like a noob question but i got a question about doing my timing belt on my b7. the crank pulley, in order to take it off should i have the car in gear or something? i have a good compressor so it should zip right off? does anyone have any tricks or something to help me with this?

If you have a good compressor and air impact, you should be fine.

I had no luck with an impact gun. my mom's boyfriend had a breaker bar with a 3 foot pipe on it I was holding it straight and keeping it on the bolt while he was trying to break it loose with my girlfriend in the car on the breaks and the car it 5th gear. 5 minutes and some nervous sweating later in finally broke loose lol

but I've heard worse stories of breaking bolts aswell as stories like "my impact gun spun it out in 5 seconds" lucky bastards :x
