turn off a/c and roll down your windows?

10 probably robs your car of 10-15 HP. i think it's worth the sluggishness to stay cool on a hot day. my $0.02

i figured it brought it down a little , thankyou for telling me, and yes i never use the a/c to be honest, my buddy has a dx and just lets that shit blow all day thats why i wanted to do the same but dont matter much. I have 2.5% tint so the a/c is a nice touch 8)

When I turn mine on in my dx my car idles down a bit then goes back to normal after a few seconds maybe look into that a little further, but yes a/c is wonderful.

Hmmm. Funny you bring that up, thats how my ac has been since I bought it. I just found out I've have low compression in one cylinder, and I know the engine has to work harder once the compressor is engaged. Not sure if that's the cause, just a thought

a/c puts a load on the engine, and the alternator.
that's why the idle has to compensate.
acceleration takes the biggest hit.

Same here i'm buying a/c 4 my hatch as well. Screw Oklahoma's 100+ degree summers.

I have a 97 GSR with a Type R trans and flywheel. With the AC off, I shift w/out giving it any throttle when I'm letting out the clutch. But with the AC on, I have to give it lots of throttle. I don't know if it's the lighter flywheel, or if the AC compressor is old. I don't care enough to pay money since I only use it when ladies are in the car or when I'm dressed nice and don't want to have sweaty pits.

my d15 would bog down horribly until i recently replaced my a/c compressor. Made a world of difference, I knew the compressor was on its way out due to correct system charge but had a high low side and low high side readings. 175k on OEM part isnt bad. :thumb:

depends on where you live. Here in Florida the summer's are pretty brutal. The humidity is disgusting. And it is not enough weight to even worry about. And you can always turn off the system when racing or whatever.

oh god, you cant live there without a/c
when i lived there my house was set at 72 yr round
and i thank god that my ek civic had a/c

i dont see how anyone does it out there, im sorta glad i moved lol
now i deal with dry heat

and d16z6boy93- well not everyone with a civic is mr ricky racer(npt saying you are) but me i like my car functional, power steering, a/c full interior, stock exhaust etc... so peopl like me dont care that our civic's arent fast or can beat the old granny from light to light... now people that buy civic's to go fast there just crazy... dont take anything agist you, im not tryin to come off that way
