Ok so I got this eg with a jdm d15b non vtec..... but it's was miss fireing and my cousin had a d15b7 head also non vtec that had been hot tanked and redone nice and shiny he didn't need...... So I put it on.... runs smooth now only problem is I feel power loss in second gear .... 1 and 3 r cool but 2 gets slow then the check engine light turns on..... I moved the distributor even jumped a tooth on the timing belt both way and nothing ...... I fear that tinkering so much I'm just gonna make it worse .......... ?.... :?

I belive it's just 1 beep so and o2 sensor....... Would that be the culprit ?....... That was the very first time but after that the light just stayed on no matter what and the car now sputters to life but won't stay on by it's own will have to hold the throttle down

Your timing would not effect your car in only one gear. There are guides here to put your motor at tdc and check timing. I'm on my phone so I'm not going to link any.

Double check that your timing is correct by finding one of these guides.

If it is correct its time to check your compression. Did you follow torque specs when putting the head back on? Also the mating surface needed to be very smooth and clean. Get back to us so we can help you figure this out.

No, an O2 sensor would not cause that. I'd double check your timing.

o2 sensor. It is defective, the sensor is unplugged, or has a defective circuit.

does it run ok or rough? have you set the timing on your dizzy? and set the idle screw on the tb?

Idle screw could effect it this way. Your dizzy timing cant really be off far rnough to make your car die. If your TB was not reused from your old head you could try this. If its not missing when you hit the gas its prob not your compression. Still a compression gauge is always good to have. Have you tried swapping plugs on the iacv? Its easy to get those mixed since they are the same plug.

Thanks for all the love guys.......For the most part I feel the power had come back and yea it runs well just the initial start up in the morning sputters but after 10 min of beig on it's ok ..... Or when I turn on the AC it wants to sputter again ...... Like I said I'm new to all this and every thing I've have done is cuz of this forum and it is the first time I've changed a head.... :D ..... I didn't know about tb having it's own adjuster gonna have to check it out and the distributor I moved it jus a oil till it felt best I'll double check on that one too ...... just would be nice to turn on the AC without having to worry about it turning of if I don't give it a oil gas at a stop light
