Will this work? Cuz quick story short my cousins 96 ex coupe blew a rod and the block and it's internals just weren't salvagable. We've been looking around town for a y8 block with everything in it but no luck. We wanted to at least be able to sell the car with a different block that we found and Use the y8 head. Will it start write up would this work ? Inputs please. Asap!!!!!

assuming you mean D15b7? Yes it will work with the y8 head, however....
In an OBD2 car (96-00) though you'll run into issues because there is no knock sensor or crank fluctuation sensor on the obd1 D15b7 block.
You'll be better off looking for a d16y7 block or even a d16y5 block would work I think, but they're less common than the y7's.

soooo... you have a jdm d15b block and you want to put a y8 head on it? pretty sure your going to encounter the same problems teal mentioned because the d15b is an obd1 engine.

Sorry this damn Itouch didnt edit my typo well we bought a jdm d15b with y8 head, but it seem I just called my local tuner and said this will work in his 96 civic ex coupe. We got the combo for $180. He said as long as the block was obd2 it would work cuz it's got a crank sensor.

It didn't turn on it cranks but no start? Is it like doing a mini me on a 96 ex coupe? Would I have to use a different distributor ?And if I do have to use a different distributor which one or can I use the y8 distributor and would I have to use it in a different position?

Do you have spark? Are all grounds hooked up (valve cover, transmission, thermostat housing?) Is timing at TDC?

I assume it's the p2p the one that comes on the 96 coupe ex all the plugs are connected nothing missing.
