Y8/b7 auto mini

this morning during start up i noticed a lot of white smoke from the muffler eventually it stopped. but yesterday i did have to add 4qts of oil because my swap was dryyy so im wondering what could be the cause?

bad rings or bad seals in the head would be my guess

Usually when there's white smoke right after sart-up and shortly after goes away, is usually a symptom of valve stem seals. You'll get smoke on startup because the oil was up in the head and ran right down the valve stem past the guides and into the cylinder.
