today i opened up my valve cover and i notice on the first piston that the valve springs are much lower than the others and also it smells like gas all the time when im driving

Next time you have the VC off, rotate the crank by hand with a wrench and see that as each cylinger goes through the compression cycle, the springs will be shorter/taller.

As for gas smell... what mods are done to the car?
