I Haven't taken my I/M off yet to see. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if their is excess material that can be taken out to either port match the stock I/M to the head, throttle body, or both? If so is it significant enough to make it worth while? Do you think with doing that it would need tuned to maximize hp or is it not gonna affect it that much?

i think the most you can go on a Z6 manifold before you start cutting into the IACV entry port is about 60-62mm if i remember correctly.. it's like 56mm now. ill try and snap a picture.. actually look here .
compared 56m to 68mm

There is no need for a bigger throttel on D16z6 56mm is perfect. What you can do is open up the IM to 60mm so you have a anti reversion stepp of 2mm to the TB.
You dont whant to port match your runners to the head!!!!!!!!!
best thing is to leave a stepp of 1mm allaround to the head -> smaller runner transists to a bigger head port.
You can cut the plennum open and smove out the transistion to the runners to gain a better flow.
reed here for a good info ->

Awesome guys, thanks for the info. I'm gonna def open it up where the throttle body bolts up and I'll clean up what I can in the plenum. I don't think I'm gonna go the extreme of cutting it open, lol. I'll buy an actual intake before that once I get the money. I'm just trying to work with what I have for now. So do any of you think it would have to be retuned after porting or do you think the stock ecu parameters could account for the extra air and add enough fuel on its own?

it's better for a retune.. always..

I agree but I have a stock P28. Is that able to be flashed or do I have to get a chip or something?

If you have the cash just get Hondata installed.. with the tune , the tuner will be able to tell the ecu where in the RPM range to add or remove fuel to get the best possible power out of the mod. Boring or making the intake bigger youll be pulling in a more amount or air per say in Volume. and the stock ecu might rich out or lean out the mixture.. Keep in mind engine dont blow due to running rich, they blow because too muich air ( Lean) and not enough fuel ..
If it's cheaper for you to have it professionally chipped then do that for not.. But getting the hondata opens up alot of doors for tuning along with any other engine management system that's reputable. neptune RTP is a bit cheaper then the Hondata if you want to look into that..
