I dunno if any of you have had this problem come up, but whenever i go downhill for a long period of time, (I usually switch between third and second to slow down a bit) once im out off the hill and back to flat road, my car has a bit of trouble accelerating, almost like its choking or is peaked at a certain speed. RPMS don't move, speed doesn't increase or decrease, just continues running.

It'll stay at around 60-80kms and not go any faster. then after a few seconds, it'll just go back to normal.

It's almost like someone has a rope on the rear bumper of my car, and lets go for me to continue building speed. It ONLY happens during DOWNHILL though.


Has anyone had or currently having this issue now?

I've noticed with my d15b8 the car is very moody and sometimes throttle response is there and sometimes it isn't. I think the motor suffers from heatsoak because its so small and has little torque so really any stress you put on it makes it work hard.

Ive noticed the same issue. even though its not like in 2nd gear screaming at like 5k just coastin down a hill around 2-2500k in 3rd for a little while and its almost like it wants to choke out or something. like a complete temporary loss of power

^ thats my problem. lol. wtf right?

could possibly be a fuel pump issue or partially clogged fuel filter something to look into anyways

when you lift the accelerator (high vacuum) your ecu cuts fuel abruptly rather than 'ramp' down gradually.

How much would 3 years difference make on an engine? (stupid question, i know). Mines a 92 DX and my dad's is a 95 DX. I've never felt or heard of him having this problem. Was/is he lucky to not have it? Or will it eventually happen to him?

Edit: Obviously KMs make a difference. But mine has less KM than his, by about 3K. Im at 244, he's at 247, maybe 248.

Km/mileage will only make a difference if both the cars where driven the same way. If your pops drives like a granny, but you drive like your in a F1 car touge racing in the mountains sitting at 16k rpms 24/7 then your lower mileage motor will definitely have more wear and tear on it. Or even if hes comutes on flat roads and you go up and down mountains, its gonna come down to how hard the car is/has been driven not necessarily the mileage. Although their may be some internal or external differences in the design of the motor/car made over those 3 years, but I cant think of anything, that corresponds with your question.

Your symptoms sound like you just have a worn engine.
Using compression to hold back your car on a long hill will push a little oil past the rings.
When you get to the bottom of the hill, your engine has to burn off that oil and clear your cylinders before you get a clean combustion chamber and full spark again.
Try just using your brakes down the hill without using compression and I would bet you don't have the stumble and lack of power at the bottom.
