Tach & Idle Problems

So i'm adjusting the idle screw on my D16Z6 to bring idle up just a little because when the trans is in gear the idle drops so low the car sounds like it's going to shut off. Now after I adjusted it the idle jumps up and down and when I press the brake pedal the tach sometimes drops to zero and it drops to zero when I put the car in gear but when you give it gas the tach works fine and when I let off the gas it sometimes either stays working like normal or drops back to zero. I've never encountered a problem like this before and i'm baffled about where to start looking or what to check first. Can anyone help and point to the right direction. I almost forgt my has an auto trans.

WOW! Not one input about this problem i'm having and my car has to get reinspected in less than 15 days. I guess i'll be totally screwed if I can't find out about this situation!

no check engine light, right? have you tried cleaning the idle air valve? dont know much about the autos, which may or may not have anything to do with it.. but kinda sounds like a sensor/valve/vaccum line is not happy

Yup sounds like a air/vac leak to me.

I'm cleaning IAC valve and fast idle valve as we speak,I have no check engine light. I'm going to check my vaccum hoses in the mornig. Could it be a bad TPS or MAP sensor?
