Well I have that engine in my my hatch and have been thinking about a swap but why engine should I go with? I want to do all motor this time. Probably do itb setup came etc. What's the easiest to swap in? I was thinking d16 which I have boosted one in the past but don't know how will it perform in a all motor car this hatch is lighter than my coupe was so I know that will help out alot. I had thought about building the 1.5 but I doubt the rods will handle alot of power.
Any thoughts are appreciated. Want to keep it running while I build something else to drop in. [/i]

You don't necessarily have to change you rods and pistons do you?
I didn't think you had to.

Well it all depends on how much compression you want to run. Like for me I would like to go up to 10:1 if possible. I don't know right off the top of my head but I think the compression on my engine currently is only 8:1. That's a serious increase in compression. Spin that to 8k and make any real power and you have a disaster waiting. I will have to research the rods and pistons more to see what I can do. I don't know if there alot of replacement performance parts out there for the little d15. I am sure the crank or the rods or perhaps both are different from the 1.6.

doing a mini-me with a d16y8 head will bump compression even more, around 10.5:1
Of course, that's only if you want to do a D series on a budget. You can make some real power with B or K swap if you want to spend more.
Also I thought stock compression was 9.5 or 9 for your motor. I know that D16z6 is 9.5.

I may try the head swap. I assume I will also need a different Ecu or a way to control the vtec. If I went with the vtec it would be my first one. The last was a d16. I just built the block up and turbo'd the crap out of it. I put lots into it. Made 15psi. Lots of time tuning it. Lucky I knew someone that would help with that. All the Ecu stuff came from phearable and used crome to tune.
Anyway. I wonder how much power the head swap would make although its tempting to just get the entire d16 swap. I used a bunch of stuff from a wrecked 99 ex last time.

Well I will keep a look out for a head. What about just doing the d16y7 head (non vtec)? Anything to be had there. Where can I find a list of combustion chamber volumes for all the different heads? That would be some useful info.

Well if memory serves this engine may already have some stuff that's not stock on it.
Take a look at these pics. I have been trying to find out what head it has. I do not recall this intake being stock for the D15B7 engine. Correct me if I am wrong.
