Hi guys i just wanted to ask, are D15b's common in California, i was walking around the junkyard and noticed MANY eg's with a D15B motor like an easy 10 or 12 cars. How do i know if it is Japanese or not?

step 1: read the code on the block
step 2: match said code with corresponding code on this page

but to answer your question: d15b's are common most anywhere (got a few buddies in Ohio with them), but most people are ditching their SOHC for DOHC.

if the engine doesn't end with a number.. it's a jdm motor.. for example.. b16a... if it does end with a number it is usdm.. for example b16a1.. thats how u know if its a jdm motor or a usdm motor...

If "you know somebody" in the smog world then you can get away with a D15B esp. in Cali since JDM motors are technically illegal.
