Hi, ive a '93 civic auto, fsh with 68k miles. Recently it seems down on power and when gently accelerating, there is a very, very slight surging, which is feel-able, and can be seen by watching the rev counter. Sometimes its more noticeable than others... Ive tried connecting the 2 diagnostic plug wires together and counting the blinks on the dash light, but nothing comes up. Also, the mpg is down by about 15%, and i drive like a grandad and aim for best mpg outta every tankful.
Any ideas? Gonna change plugs tomorrow, look at air filter, autobox oil, valve clearances, etc.......

Look at the plugs when you pull them, see if there is oil on them. Also, check the coolant level, and be sure there is no air pockets. If you pull the dipstick, and sill tannish oil on the stick, you may have a headgasket issue.

Wow that is low miles! Sounds like a tune up ( plugs, wires, cap, rotor) may be due soon. Also keep in mind that fuel economy usually drops a little during the winter months from the ethanol they add to fuel.

Its had leads, gonna throw plugs, cap and rotor in in next day or so. Its not gonna hurt and at least it'll eliminate those as possibilities.
Was maybe thinking of checking valve clearances too..... Not that they would cause the surging, but they are slightly rattly when cold.
