i have a d16z6, upon research ive found that if you get too big of a cam, you have to get a tune, or such. anyway, any recomendations on what cam to get thats bigger than stock?

I had a skunk2 cam in my z6 with full skunk2 valve train, port n polish, cai, header, and 2.5" oval muffler and got 40mpgs with no tune.

Really? even with the port and polish? wow. i can do port and polish myself, so thats no issue. whuch skunk2 cam did you get?

skunk2 discontinued their d16z6 (sohc) cams all together. so you would have to find a used one... i just bought a blox stage 2... but if you dont wanna build the internals you should go with like a comp street cam, or stage one they dont need a tune or upgraded valvetrain.... but the blox cam and internal kit is only around 500, and a tune wont be too exspensive

i cant find anyone around my area that tunes, im trying to gain some cheap hp without a tune. ive already got a used msd and im buying headers, a cai and i have a b18a1 tb.

and i was looking for a reliable cam that dont need a tune and that actually does something.

go with a comp then... i dont like ebay very much... but they have them for a decent price, and you dont necessarily need a tune, and you dont have to upgrade internals...

ayyye quick question. does a b18a1 throttle body bolt right up????

if im not mistaken it does. ive had to use a d series tb on one of my old b series lol.

stage one? ive heard they arent much different than a stock cam

sweet..good to know! im gonna try it tonight. actually the stage 1 is a decent upgrade. they give the exaust a decent deeper tone and it does improve power a little... but just a cam isnt going to give you a huge power increase.... the blox stage 2, with a tune and upgraded internals in the head only gives around 20 hp gain....

thats what i would do. its safe so its not gonna blow your shit up. and you dont need crazy upgrades for it.

i wonder how much of a diff it would make for vtec?

if you can swap a cam you can download chrome and chip a ecu. there is a step to step how to online. or download any tuning software

sometimes the tune could add better mpg, more hp, more torque, and better reliabilty


for tuning you pretty much select all your mods, injector size etc and software will make a base map. then you can tweak the base map to you liking.

research you wont be dissapointed its easier than it seems
