D16A6 block w/ D16Z6 head, which ecu to use?

I just bought a '92 civic that the owner swapped a D16A6 (from a '91 civic) block into, and he said it has a head from a D16Z6 on it. I looked it up and I think the head is supposed to be vtec.

The car came with a P05 ecu and it has been acting a little strange since I bought it, kind of sputters a little bit sometimes. Previous owner said it might be running rich and might need a P06 ecu.

What ecu do you think I should try putting in the car?

I read somewhere that cars that came with D16A6's had PM6 ecu's, and cars that came with D16Z6's had P28 ecu's so I don't know what to try.

Thanks for the help!

p28.
pm6 is obd0, you want obd1 ecu for 92-95 civics.

So since the z6 head is a vtec, if I just get a p28 ecu will it work the way it's supposed to, or do i need to run a wire from the ecu to something? If so, can someone post a link to more info on how to do this? Thanks

scroll down just past 1/2 way on the mini-me DIY: http://www.civic-eg.com/viewtopic.php?t=10 for wiring info.

92 hatches are pre wired for vtec up to the shock tower :thumb:
