I was wondering if the pistons when cold should be able to move side to side (play), I had to pull the head to replace head gasket....d15b7 by the way. Yes the car smokes at high revs,down shifts then gasing it..

Piston to wall clearance should only be a few thousandths of an inch. If it literally wobbles in the bore you have some problems
