With that set up you will be about 10.2:1 on the compression. You will want premium gas from now on.

might as well replace the water pump while you have it all apart, if it has not been replaced recently

so with this set up i will have to run super unleaded petrol? so all i need to complete is a timing belt to suit the d16z6 head, a adjustable cam gear and a water pump? is this combination of head and bottom end any good?

Looks like it will work.

While your getting parts, here is a list of stuff to get while building up the motor

Head gasket
Valve cover gasket
Spark plug grommets
Distributor O ring - They leak alot
Timing Belt
Water Pump
Oil pump
Oil pan gasket
Rear main seal
Intake manifold gasket - Hondata/PasswordJDM or stock
Exhaust gasket - Stock metal is best
Timing belt tensioner
Adj. Cam gear

Option parts for more power!!

Cam - Zex, Web or OBX.. Zex stage two is a great cam
Valve springs for cam
Header
Skunk2 Intake manifold
B series Throttle body
Chipped p28 ecu.

My friends basic Mini-me was a quick car. He could take EX/Si cars all the time. Just your basic bolt ons too. With my old chipped ECU.

by chipped p28 do you mean to buy a chip of ebay that you can solder into your p28 yourself? i can get a b series tb ok,i know where there is a few, i have a header to go on to my car soon. but as for the intake and cam how much are we talking for those 2? i was thinking about getting my head skimmed and using a gasket of a y8 but my friend says to not get the head skimmed just use a thinnner gasket and put a cam in, he says if i skim the head and use a thinner gasket like a y8 it would be to harsh on the engine, is he right? also i was thinking about getting the head ported and polished. so this is what im thinking about doing (im only learning by the way so if you think it would be a bad setup please tell me your opinion)

getting the head skimmed - should leave the compression higher?
y8 head gasket-higher compression again?
port and polished
b series throttle body
skunk 2 cam - my friend has 1 for sale at the moment
adjustable cam gear
some kind of upgraded intake
header
chipped p28

i should be able to source most of this stuff within a few weeks, would this be a good setup, does anyone know a ball park figure for the power output and torque? thanx :thumb:

you are correct, shaving the head and using a thinner headgasket will both raise the compression ratio. The y8 headgasket is thinner than the Z6. I would not shave the head unless it is needed (warped)

You have Euro petrol with a 95 octane rating right? That should be good enough...in the states they have fuels with lesser octane ratings...
