vtec to non vtec

- Tue Aug 19, 2014 6:02 pm #348019 So I jus got an eg hatch with a check engine code 21 for vtec spool solenoid. Its the d15b8 non vtec. I kno u can pin for vtec. Is there anyway to I guess u could call it de- pin vtec.

Just get the right ecu for the D15b8, the P05. They're dirt cheap.
What ECU do you have right now, P28? The P28 uses a 4-wire o2 sensor while the P05 uses a 1-wire o2 sensor (except for cali cars maybe).
So if you have a 4-wire o2 sensor, you'll have to downgrade to a 1-wire if you use the P05 ecu.

- Tue Aug 19, 2014 6:22 pm #348023 My o2 sensor on the manifold is a one wire o2 sensor already. And yeah its the p28. And I'll look into finding a p05 ecu.

- Tue Aug 19, 2014 6:49 pm #348024 You should have a check engine code for the 1-wire o2 sensor as well if you're running a P28.

But get a P05 and you should be good to go. Be sure you get an ecu from a car that is the same transmission as yours, either auto or manual.

Then you can sell the P28, they are worth about $100
