I have a D16z6 engine and my alternator belt is now frayed. I want to do the repair myself but I don't know how and my Haynes manual doesn't explain how to do it without removing the engine. Any guides on this that I might of missed and if not any help would be much appreciated

all you have to do is loosen the 2 bolts, pivot bolt on the bottom and the bolt on the adjustable bracket on the top. Then you can slide the alternator is/out to remove the belt and fit the new one on. When you get the new blt on, move the alternator out so there is tension on the belt & tighten the 2 bolts and you're done

What he said except use a prybar to push the alternator out as hard as you can while you or a friend tighten the upper bolt. If it's too loose, it will squeak.

Make sure to tighten the lower nut. On 90% of cars I look at, that nut is missing either from falling off or from never being re-installed.

Ah, that helps a lot, though it leaves me with another problem, how should I get at the alternator? It's very deep inside the engine compartment and there is no hand room to get in

You can get at it from underneath the car - jack it up and stick axle stands under, should have enough room to work!

You're just changing the belt, not the whole alternator, right?

Take off the wheel so you can get to the lower bolt. The upper bolt is accessible from above. You may have to push the power steering hose to the side a bit.

if he has tha pulley wit tha power steerin nd/or tha ac belt, doesn't he have 2 take them off 2 put tha alternator belt on???

and please make sure the pivot bolt is in. the system i hd in my car vibrated mine out without me knowing it and my alternator belt would not stay tensioned.
