- Sat Jul 19, 2008 9:03 pm #62620 ok at idle my car putters..the rpms go up and down just alittle..one or two rpms....but when you listen to the exhaust it has a putter(mind you it has no cat or resonators)..it was like that when i bought it its a d16a6 block and a vtec head..help..thanks

- Sun Jul 20, 2008 4:23 pm #62694 What RPM does it idle at? You can't rely on the factory tach. You need to hook up a diagnostic tach and the plug connector on the strut tower.

Ignition timing. Idle control screw (both should be checked adjusted according to the shop manual). Verify you have the correct cam gear for the head. Verify cam timing.
