I just joined this website, and Im learning about my car. I just bought a 1995 Civic hatchback Eg. The car is canadian made, and they told me they dropped a D15 engine in it. I wanna know how i can tell exactly what kinda engine I have, if it is a D15. That way I can get the specs on it. Please help with any knowledge you might be able to give me. Thanx, PhatBoy.

Best place to look is on the engine next to the gear box it will say the engine code.

If it is a D15 it will start D15....... then once you know exactly what one it is I'm sure someone will be able to give you some speaks on it.

Ok, it does say D15. So, there are different types of D15's? - I appreciate your reply.

JDM D15B is a vtec motor, similar to the da6z6 but 1.5L insead of 1.6L. D15B is a great motor.

D15b7 is non vtec, 16 valve. (dx, lx)

D15b8 is non vtec, 8 valve. (the weakest one from the cx)

The whole code is D15B or does it continue going? We need to know the whole code.

If it's D15B and only "D15B" then it's a JDM engine. There are more than one so you'd need to look for a VTEC solenoid and you'd have to describe the intake manifold to be absolutely sure exactly what motor it is. The intake manifolds before 1996 look anorexic compared to the post 1996 manifolds. That is with the exception of the top mounted throttle body which came on the non-VTEC 96+ motors.

D15B7 is just your standard non-VTEC 16 valve engine. Found in the DX and LX. 105 hp, 98 ft/lbs torque. Not a bad motor, but not very inspirational either.

If it is Canadian made, then I'm assuming that it really is the D15B7. Now Mini-me that baby! :thumb:

Yeah mine is a canadian model DX. It had the same little engine. What you should do is throw an autozone intake on it if the whole engine is stock. It gets loud when you step on it :) Get a B series

It already has a short ram air intake, tenzo header, magnaflow hi-flow cat, and megan exhaust. ----what else can i do to it to increase? Aside from the turbo, that is. I have a student loan, so im on a budget of a thousand or below, and i wanna optimize. should i get a different intake? what does a polish and port do?

And hey...all of your replies and advice are very appreciated. Im glad i have a place to turn to now. thanx again.

Find a Z6 head and a P28 Ecu. Then put them on.
