D16z6 internals on a d15b2???

- Tue Sep 09, 2008 2:49 am #68954 Do d16z6 internals fit on a d15b2 block? I wanna get a d16 but here in Brazil it´s ilegal to swap blocks. unless it´s a brand new genuwine honda engine. So i got a friend who´s parting his civic out and i wanna get his d16z6 to put his head and internals on my block. will that work if i change the crank and everything? Thanks

- Tue Sep 09, 2008 2:54 am #68959 The pistons are about the only thing that will fit, internal wise. They head will work and you would all need the ECU and everything attached to the head.

Pretty much a Mini-me swap.

Can i use just the d15b2 block and the rest all d16?? i´ll swap everything the crank flywheel rods etc?? :?

- Tue Sep 09, 2008 3:27 am #68972 I do not believe that the crank will fit. Different main journal sizes. You should be able to use the pistons in your block. and just put the head on top.

You dont really need to use the pistons though, you will have nice compression ratio wiht just putting the head on. In fact, if you put the pistons in you will lower the compression ratio.

Just use the head and get a head gasket for a z6.

By head I mean the complete head. With intake manifold and Dizzy and VTEC soleniod.

Grab the P28 ecu and just do a mini-me swap.

these?

D15B2 block
D16Z6 head
D16Z6 intake manifold
D16Y8 head gasket
D16Z6 valve cover gasket and grommets
D16Z6 NGK spark plugs and wires
D16Z6 Distributor and rotor
D16Z6 Timing belt
D15B2 water pump
P28 ECU

but what wires and connectors i need ? The exhaust manifold is from d16z6 or i can use the stock d15b2 exhaust manifold? help please!

you may need to wire in vtec.
see teal's fabulous mini-me write up in the diy section

and for the record d16 main journals are 48mm and d15 main journals are 45mm = d16 crank will not fit in a d15
